The burning of the Cuyahoga River was an iconic incident in the Northeast Ohio region that gained national attention because of the uniqueness of two opposing forces – fire and water – commingling in an epic event. This occurrence was the result of government and societal failings, but was notable in that it resulted in large scale attention and ultimately activism and change.

Likewise, the juxtaposition of more than one distinct performing art form, executed at a high level, and grounded in storytelling that is relevant and urgent is a unique and noteworthy endeavor. Making theatre on an epic scale, created collectively with high-level collaborators over a longer incubation period, will produce remarkable theatrical events with the opportunity to draw attention to, ask questions about, and respond to issues facing our shared community.
